Wilson built the very first building on the South Texas college campus (known at the time as TSTI) and was soon awarded a big project in Brownsville at Texas Southmost College (now UTRGV) to build two new buildings linked with pedestrian walkways. The project was significant, as it represented a different class of work than the company had done before, and it was successful.

Then came Veterans High School in Brownsville. The $60 million project was for nine buildings and was the largest project the company had yet worked on, with more than 300 builders working on the job site for 18 months.
