D. Wilson Construction Steps Up as Presenting Sponsor of UTRGV Golf Classic

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that D. Wilson Construction has committed to serve as the presenting sponsor of the UTRGV Golf Classic, benefiting the men’s and women’s golf programs, on Nov. 6 at 9 a.m. at Champion Lakes Golf Course, the future home of the Vaqueros Golf Center.

Wilson specializes in general contracting, construction management, and design-build services for institutional, public, and private sector clients in Texas. Established in 1957, D. Wilson is one of the largest employee-owned company in south Texas and is consistently ranked as one of the top 100 construction companies in Texas by ENR Texas & Louisiana Magazine, with a current ranking of 72.
 
The UTRGV Golf Classic, presented by D. Wilson Construction, is a 4-person scramble with a cost of $700 per team that includes breakfast from Rudy’s Country Store & Bar-B-Q, lunch courtesy of G3 Scrap Metal, hospitality courtesy of 5×5 Brewing Co. and Casa De Palmas, tee gifts, prizes, and awards.
 
The first place team wins a trip to a Dallas Cowboys game, courtesy of RGV Tours. The second place team wins the use of a suite at a Vaqueros baseball game, donated by South Texas Commercial. The third place team wins four free rounds of golf at La Cantera in San Antonio.
 
Sponsorship opportunities are also available, including the scoreboard for $1,000 and individual holes for $500 each. Participants can also purchase a Vaqueros Bundle which includes both team registration and hole sponsorship for $1,000.
 
All proceeds from the registration fee and the sponsorships directly benefit the UTRGV men’s and women’s golf programs.
 
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with special guest Genaro Davila, Miura Golf’s master fitter who originally fit Abraham Ancer for Miura clubs in 2017. Ancer, who was born in McAllen, grew up in Reynosa, and went to Sharyland High School, currently sports an Official World Golf Ranking of 77.
